FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ADMISSIONS

What are the age requirements for Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten?

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a family makes. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often from prospective parents as they explore our school community.

Preschool

Children must be at least 3 years old and fully toilet trained. Our preschool serves children three to five years of age.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Children are eligible for TK if they turn 4 years old on or before the last day of February preceding the start of the next school year.

Kindergarten

Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1 of the school year to enroll in Kindergarten, as required by California state law.

Age requirements for enrollment

Documentation of age (such as a birth certificate) is required at the time of registration.

What are the natural entry points for admissions consideration?

Our natural entry points tend to be preschool and 6th grade, but we accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year and space in other grades is based on current enrollment numbers and attrition.

Can we apply for entry into any grade?

Yes, we accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year and space is based on current enrollment numbers and attrition.

What are the school hours and is aftercare offered?

School hours are 8:00am-2:50 Monday through Thursday and 8:00-12:15 on Fridays. We offer aftercare until 4:00 Monday-Thursday and until 3:00 on Fridays. Aftercare serves TK students through 8th grade.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer aftercare to preschool children as our license does not permit it.

Do we need to be Catholic to attend Nativity?

We welcome students of all faith backgrounds provided that families respect, support, and participate in our Catholic mission, values, and religious education curriculum.
