1st Grade Classroom

Dear First Grade Families,

Welcome to First Grade! I am so excited to begin this school year with you and your child at our wonderful Catholic school. First grade is such a special year filled with growth, discovery, friendship, and faith, and I look forward to partnering with your family throughout the year.

My name is Denise McOwen, and I have been blessed to teach at this school for 20 years. Catholic education is very close to my heart, and I truly believe in nurturing the whole child academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. It is a joy to help children grow in their faith while developing a love of learning.

In first grade, we will work hard, pray together, read many wonderful books, strengthen our math skills, explore God’s creation through science and social studies, and most importantly, learn how to be kind and caring members of our classroom family. My goal is to create a classroom where every child feels safe, loved, encouraged, and challenged to do their very best.

I believe strong communication between school and home is essential for a successful year. Please know that I value your partnership and welcome any questions or concerns along the way. Together, we can help your child have a joyful and successful first-grade experience.
