8th Grade Classroom

Hello 8th Grade!

I am eager to see all your smiling faces when we begin the new school year. Your 8th Grade year will be exciting and dynamic. You will have many opportunities to shine. I consider it a blessing to be able to share in your academic and spiritual journey.

With a teaching career that has spanned two decades, I am thrilled to enter my second year at The Nativity School. Over the past three years I took on the role of “student” becoming a Fellow with the San Diego Area Writing Project (National Writing Project) at UCSD, and recently completing a Master’s degree in Education from USD. I have been married for 27 years and have two daughters, Isabella and Natalie.

This coming vear you will continue to dive into Algebra and Geometry under the guidance of Mrs. Lunn, study and build upon your faith with Sra. Martinez, and explore the scientific world with Ms. McTavish. 8th graders will have the opportunity to combine history and ELA with a new Humanities course that Ms. Bateman and I will co-teach.

We will focus on a cross-curricular experience that will examine content on a deeper level and make meaningful connections to our past while reinforcing and improving on our reading and writing skills.

We will also focus on refining our organizational and study skills to prepare us for high school. Information regarding high school admissions and important dates, including field trip information, will be posted and shared as it becomes available. Please check SchoolSpeak for summer reading and math assignments, supply lists, and other important details to help get ready for the upcoming school year.
