8th Grade Classroom

Hello 8th Grade!

I am eager to see all your smiling faces when we begin the new 2026-2027 school year. Your 8th Grade year will be exciting and dynamic. You will have many  opportunities to shine. I consider it a blessing to be able to share in your academic and spiritual  journey. 

With a teaching career that has spanned over two decades, I am thrilled to enter my sixth year  at The Nativity School. Over the past few years, I also took on the role of “student” becoming a  Fellow with the San Diego Area Writing Project (National Writing Project) at UCSD, and  completing a Master’s degree in Education from USD in 2022. I have been married for over 30 years and have two daughters, Isabella and Natalie. 

This coming year you will continue to dive into Algebra and Geometry with Mrs. Sohaey, and  build upon your faith with Mrs. Martinez. We will also focus on a cross-curricular experience in  ELA and Social Studies which will allow us to make meaningful connections to our past while  reinforcing and improving on our reading and writing skills. We will continue to refine our study  skills to help prepare us for high school.  

Information regarding high school admissions and important dates, including field trip  information, will be posted and shared as it becomes available. Please check FACTS or the  school website for summer reading and math assignments, supply lists, and other important  details to help prepare for the upcoming school year. I am looking forward to seeing all of you!
