Preschool Classroom

On behalf of The Nativity School, I’d like to welcome you to our preschool program. We are privileged to be able to offer your child an excellent preschool program with a strong Montessori influence while keeping with our Catholic beliefs and values. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children and having your family join our Nativity School family. It promises to be a great year with a lot of new adventures and learning opportunities.

Preschool offers many benefits. It can be a great place for kids to interact with peers and learn valuable life lessons such as how to share, take turns, and follow rules. It will also prepare them academically for kindergarten and beyond. The start of preschool can also be an emotional time for both children and parents. For a child, entering a new preschool environment filled with unfamiliar teachers and other children can cause both anxiety and excitement. Parents might have mixed emotions about whether their child is ready for preschool.

All new preschool students will begin on a ½ day schedule for the first two weeks of school. At the end of these two weeks, the teachers will evaluate the student’s readiness. If they believe that your child is ready for a longer day, there will be an extended day offer. There is a possibility that your child might not be quite ready for preschool or the length of day you request. Please note, in the case that your child is having difficulty normalizing or adjusting to their school routine, we reserve the right to modify their schedule. They will stay on their adjusted schedule until they are developmentally and/or emotionally ready to add more hours to their day. If a developmental assessment is warranted, your child might need to take a break from preschool until the assessment is complete and we have an action plan in place. This will be at the sole discretion of the classroom teacher and the Early Education Director.
