Learn about CDPH considerations when a child has symptoms of illness in child care or school
Schools must act quickly when a student shows signs of illness. The immediate priority is checking for medical emergencies. If the situation isn’t urgent, staff must decide whether to keep the student in class or send them home, weighing the risk of spreading infection against the negative impact of missing school.

The Office of School Health Hub provides essential tools and information to protect the well-being of our TK-12 community. This resource center is designed to support student and staff safety while helping to manage health risks on campus. We update the Hub regularly with new guidance and materials.
